Welcome to my Writing Experiment!
I’m sure you probably have some questions, so I will attempt to answer them here:
Who are you, anyway?
My name is Emily, I am a Junior at Doane College, and I am an aspiring writer. If you want to know more, click here!
What is the Writing Experiment?
The Writing Experiment is my personal challenge to write more. I will post at least once a day (hopefully more!), every day (including holidays), for at least a year (hopefully longer 🙂 ).
SIDE NOTE: My days do not begin and end at midnight. If I haven’t gone to sleep, it’s not the next day. This means some posts may come in at 3 am. I’m in college; it still counts. 🙂
What will I find here?
Since I am posting every day, I have decided each day will be themed!!
This is when I get to tell you more about myself, my thoughts and stuff that happens to me.
I love lists. Each Tuesday I will make a Top 5 list of anything I can think of, from ‘Things you never want the driver to say‘, to ‘Reasons to go to a liberal arts college’.
This is when I will post things I’ve written, be it poetry, short stories, or bits of my upcoming novel. I may also post about my thoughts on writing, and the obstacles I face.
I think people should be thankful year-round, not just during the Holidays. Therefore, each week I will post three new things I am grateful for.
Similar to Wednesdays, on Fridays I will post my response to a Writing Prompt from the book 642 Things to Write About. Jake will also be writing responses, so watch out for his as well.
Saturdays and Sundays:
I haven’t decided what I want to write about on the weekends yet, so for now I am leaving them open.
Every day I will post a random quote. It may be something my family or friends have said, or something I have seen or read.
Who the eff is Jake?
Yay Vlogbrothers reference!!
You may notice that many of my posts feature a mysterious figure known as Jake. He is one of my best friends and fellow blogger. (Check out his awesome blog here!) together we are the infamous duo: Double Trouble!
